The West Sussex Art Society was founded in 1929 and was originally known as the “Sketch Club.” It has evolved over the years and now has about 60 members.
On the second Saturday of every month, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm the society holds professional criticisms, demonstrations and lectures on the arts, as well as occasional workshops. Meetings are held at the Heene Community Centre, 122 Heene Road, Worthing, BN11 4PL. There is also an annual exhibition which is often held at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, or at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts Chichester. The membership consists of a broad mix of amateur, semi-professional and professional artists, producing a wide variety of work, ranging from traditional through to abstract and conceptual work.
People interested in becoming Members of the Society should contact the Secretary , Marina Burgess, who will give information and send an application form which gives details of how to apply.
